(Grand)Mama Drama: Part 5,238

Posted by: dashtosomewhere on: November 13, 2008

So, I’ve had some Grandma drama over the last few months.  It seemed that she had hopped onto the Crazy Train, and there was no stopping her.  Or maybe she could be stopped, but I sure as hell wasn’t going to make the effort to try.

Anyway, yesterday I had a voicemail from my Grandma.  I saw my missed call and thought, “Great.”  So I listened to it.

“Hi Brittney.  This is your Grandma.  Just wanted to see if you wanted to have lunch sometime next week. Bye.”

Wha?!?!  Did she forget that the last time we spoke (which was over a month ago) she told me I was a childish brat and that she was taking me out of her will?  That she hung up on me twice?

I can’t decide if I want to call her back.  A part of me thinks I should just suck it up and call her, and not go to war with another family member.  But the other part of me figures that if I just drop it, she wins.  And she’ll just keep getting pissed when anyone stands up to her because she’s so used to getting her way.

And a part of me is pretty sure I should just not call her back.  I’m moving to Utah is less than a month.  I could stick it out.

Here’s the tricky part:  I also think that “lunch” is some crazy grandma scheme to get me in a public place.  I’ll admit, I tend to get a little louder when I’m annoyed, and trapping me in a restaurant booth would most definitely be to her advantage.  Am I walking into a trap?  Typically, I wouldn’t think any grandma would do such a thing.  But the way mine’s been acting lately, I wouldn’t put it past her.

your grandma notes are hilarious… i think you should put them all in a collection and publish a book!

Maybe she’s starting to lose her memory? Or am I giving her too much credit, huh?

[...] talked to my grandma zero times since the last edition of Grandma Drama.  Zero.  You’d think that one would get a clue.  Or that one would at least apologize for [...]
