American Idol: Stacked

Posted by: dashtosomewhere on: March 4, 2009

When the Top 36 voting rounds of American Idol start, I always figured that they took they best 9 people and divided them into separate groups.  This way, they hopefully do well and the producers have the Top 12 show they want.  I think there is no way these groups are randomly divided.  What if a group was full of not-so-good people?

In Rounds 1 and 2, I looked at the group and went, “This person, this person and whoever sings best are making it through.”  And I’ve been right, or at least pretty close.  Danny Gokey? Check.  Adam Lambert? Check.

Since I didn’t have TV during the Round 2 week, I didn’t know who was in group 3. (I know, I could have looked it up on the internet when I got internet service this weekend.  I didn’t- mostly because I didn’t even think about it.)  But damn… Group 3 was stacked!

I missed Von, but from the looks of the clips at the end, I feel like he might have over sang a bit.  But besides him, there are 7 or 8 people that I wouldn’t mind putting through to the next round.  Who do I think is in for sure?  Lil Rounds and Scott MacIntyre.  Lil was the best of the night and has been consistently good.  Scott wasn’t the strongest guy last night, but he’s gotten way too much coverage on the show for him to not make it through.  The better question is who makes it through in the third spot?  Kristin McNamara- who has also had a lot of coverage and sings well consistently?  Felicia Barton- who, just like Ejay Day from Season 1 made it through after the fact?  The “Cute as a Button” girl- who didn’t sing well, but is cute?  Jorge Nunez?  Kendall Beard?  Nathaniel Marshall?
