Well, as typical with my nomadic lifestyle, I’ve reached a point where I have nothing to do. Therefore, I blog. Hopefully consistently.
The “nothing to do points” often coincide with other not so fun points in my life, such as not making any money and living with dad. At some points I’m pretty sure that living with my dad at my age is pretty pathetic. I have more and more friends hopping on the engaged/ married/ buying a house/ having a child train. Other times I’m just glad that the train has no tracks anywhere near my dad’s house. I’m okay with staying here for a few reasons- a) it’s more like squatting. I never do it for more than a couple months at a time. b) I’ve enjoyed my nomadic lifestyle. Everything I own fits in my car. If I needed to pick up and move tomorrow, I could. c)He’s never really here.
And D) I have all intentions of getting a real job in January. That’s right, no more festivals, seasons, or foreign countries for me. I know, we’ve been through this before. But the fact of the matter is that at some point in my life I have to have a job with benefits and things. January seems like as good a time as any.
So, as I normally do during my squatting periods, I plan on randomly working, taking road trips, watching tv, and enjoying what is probably, hopefully, the last time I don’t have to pay rent. (Thanks Dad!)
Anyway, here’s a couple gems from my conversations with my dad. Oh home…
Windex
I walk into the kitchen this morning to find my dad windexing the trash can and wood cabinets. His response? “I windex everything.”
Tacos
We had tacos tonight for dinner. The package made 12 tacos. After eating 2, my dad told me I had to eat 4 more because he didn’t want leftovers. I told him there was no way I was eating half the tacos. He told me I could just eat 2 more tacos. “Why Dad, are you going to really eat 8 tacos? ” “No,” he replies. “I’m going to take all of the stuff and mix it together for a taco salad. Then I’ve only eaten 3 tacos and one taco salad.”
